SBJS was pleased to welcome Shawn Thies & Friends for her debut with the Jazz Society featuring music from the Great American Songbook with a splash of original and world sounds!
One of California’s best-kept secrets, Shawn Thies (rhymes with “bees”) has been vocalizing up and down the Central Coast since the age of 14. Influenced by Jazz, Pop, Americana/Country, Celtic, R&B and Choral music, Shawn is often compared to vocalists such as Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy and Judy Collins. It’s difficult to confine her into one category as her sound delivers across many genres with a voice music critics have described as “rich and smoothly accessible, yet emotive and playful.” Whatever the genre, Shawn draws listeners in by creating an intimate, inclusive musical space, especially in live performance.
