One of our members, Dana Schorr, passed away on August 5th. Dana was a gemstone dealer, activist, world traveler, jazz and music enthusiast and all-around good guy. He founded a nonprofit and was a member of other SB organizations, including a local dance club, where he could be seen dancing the night away with a number of SBJS members, including Nansie Chapman, publisher and managing editor of SB Family Life. Dana was loved by many and will be missed at our monthly events. The SBJS sends its condolences to Dana’s family and friends. If you wish to send a letter of condolence to Dana’s family, please feel free to do so at The Schorr Family, c/o P.O. Box 20184, Santa Barbara, CA 93120.
SBJS Founding Member, Lin Cook, recently had hip surgery, and so far so good. In addition to being a founding jazz society member, Lin is an accomplished jazz pianist. Though a longtime Santa Barbara resident, friends, and SBJS Board members, Jan McBride, Natalie Wilson and ReVay Seifert, recently visited Lin in the LA area, where she now resides. The SBJS sends its good wishes to Lin for her full recovery.
